Antonio Brown took a jab at Brittney Griner after Donald Trump promised to pass a law banning transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports. Griner has yet to respond.
Almost a week after surviving his assassination attempt, Donald Trump officially accepted the GOP presidential nomination on Thursday night, the final night of the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. During the long speech, Trump discussed several ongoing issues in the country.
One of them was about transgender athletes competing in women’s sports. In the last few years, a number of biological males switched their genders and started participating in female sports, causing an uproar on the internet.
One of the prominent examples would be 25-year-old Williams Thomas, who switched genders and renamed Lia Thomas, entered several competitions, and won, setting various records along the way. Trump announced that, after coming to power, the Republican government would ban such practices completely.
We will not have men playing in women’s sports; that will end immediately.Donald Trump said per FOX News
It’s unclear why Antonio Brown chose to call out WNBA player Brittney Griner, but he named her specifically when resharing Trump’s quote.

Brittney Griner ready to represent the USA women’s basketball team in the Olympics
The Paris Olympics is just around the corner, and the USA Women’s National Basketball team announced its tentative list of players. Besides a few surprises, the usual players made the cut, including Brittney Griner.
In an interview with NBC News, the 33-year-old revealed being ready for the challenge.
BG [Brittney Griner] is locked in and ready to go. I’m happy, I’m in a great place [and] I’m representing my country, the country that fought for me to come back. I’m gonna represent it well.Brittney Griner told NBC News
In February 2022, Griner was detained by the Russian government when airport police caught her with vaporizer cartridges containing less than a gram of hash oil. Griner pleaded guilty, claiming it was only medical cannabis. However, the federal court denied her plea because substance use is prohibited in the country.
The US and the Russian government agreed on a one-for-one prisoner release. In December, Griner returned to US soils.
