BOISE COUNTY, Idaho (CBS2) — Boise County Sheriff's deputies are helping get stranded cars off of Rabbit Creek Road.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, the sheriff's office says deputies were out Thursday, Friday and Saturday to help stranded drivers.
The sheriff's office gave information for those planning to use snowy roads.
"The roads are so traveled right now that you may come back out and find multiple stranded vehicles keeping you from exiting the way you came in," said the post. It also warns that the snow consistency can change depending on the time of day. "You may be able to stay on the top crust on the cold morning and find yourself sinking in it the same afternoon," the sheriff's office said.
Another issue for rescue crews is getting access to stranded vehicles. "The roads are so traveled right now that you may come back out and find multiple stranded vehicles keeping you from exiting the way you came in," the post said. "This is quickly becoming a big issue for rescuers as rescue vehicles are not able to go around some of the stuck vehicles."
The Boise County Sheriff's Office says deputies have been working with Search and Rescue, Life Flight, the Forest Service, along with fire services and volunteers. "Even with the help of everyone we are running very low on resources to keep this up," the post said.
Signs have been placed on dangerous roads, but the sheriff's office says, "we are not having much luck with the signs at this time."
For those planning to travel on mountain roads, deputies say they should tell someone where they are going, know the limits of their vehicle, and pack supplies in case they are stranded for several days.
"Any assistance you can provide by not getting stuck would be greatly appreciated," the post said.
