IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (CBS2) — A man was arrested in Idaho Falls after officials say he pulled a knife on his girlfriend during an argument.
Bonneville County deputies came to Kit Lane on Saturday after they got a call about a man and a woman causing a disturbance. The couple was arguing in the street, and witnesses say the man grabbed the woman before pulling a knife on her.
The woman was heard saying "You're not going to stab me," and the man reportedly threatened to beat her.
Police detained the couple. The man, 25-year-old Kristian Lopez, was found with a knife in his jacket. He initially denied pulling the knife out, but he later admitted to taking it out after the woman threw a can of soda at him. He claims he never opened the blade.
The woman told deputies that Lopez said, "If you don't tell me what happened last night, I'm going to stab you," while he pointed the knife at her. The woman also admitted she'd thrown a soda at Lopez.
Lopez was arrested and taken to Bonneville County Jail. Deputies found drug items and Fentanyl residue on him, and he was charged with aggravated assault, domestic battery, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
