Mexican Singer Ariel Camacho Killed In Crash

CULIACAN, Mexico (CelebrityAccess) — Ariel Camacho, a rising Mexican music star and frontman of the Grupera group Los Plebes del Rancho, was killed in a car accident after leaving a concert near Mocorito, in the Mexican state of Sinaloa.

According to the Associated Press, Camacho had been a guest performer with another band and was on his way home when the accident occurred. Police said Camacho's car was speeding when it skidded off the road and ran into a drainage ditch about 3 a.m. Camacho and two other occupants of the car were killed.

While only 22 years old, Camacho had gained significant popularity in his home state of Sinaloa, and was making an name for himself in the U.S.

A native of Gusave, Sinaloa, Camacho's music was about his small town experiences against the backdrop of narco-culture.

"My heart is broken by the loss of Ariel Camacho," Angel Del Villar, CEO and founder of Camacho's label DEL Records, said in the statement. "Ariel was like a son to me. I knew he was going to transform the genre in Mexico and the United States. Millions of people would have become fans and would have gotten to know the man I did.
