Spring is almost here, which means it’s time once again for the annual Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot. For the next three months the park will be transformed into a vibrant celebration of the season, and this party has everything: delicious food, topiaries shaped into your favorite animated characters and, don’t look now, but you might even get a chance to see Tony Orlando (without Dawn) or new wave band Flock of Seagulls.

There’s so much going on that it will take a few blog posts to cover it all, but let’s start with a brief overview:

1. How Long Does It Run?

The Flower and Garden Festival opened on March 6 and runs through June 3.

2. Cost

There’s no cost beyond the regular cost of park admission. Unlike events like Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party or Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, you don’t have purchase a separate ticket.

3. Topiary Art

Without a doubt the highlight of the Flower and Garden Festival is the topiaries that you’ll find all throughout the park. You can see classic characters like Mickey and Minnie, Donald Duck, Goofy, Snow White, Rafiki and Simba, Belle and Beast, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, and modern favorites like Lightning Mcqueen, Anna and Elsa, and more. There are a few culturally specific topiaries, like a group of panda bears in China, and a slightly frightened looking troll in Norway.

4. Food

Like most Epcot festivals, the Epcot Flower and Garden festival is a smorgasbord of delicious food offerings. We’ll take a closer look at more of the food offerings in a future blog, but for now we’ll just mention the 5-Layered Spring Fantasy Cotton Candy.

Located at the Lotus House in the China Pavilion, the dessert is an ornate creation which almost as fun to watching being made as it is to eat. It’s a little pricey, running $15, but there are two, three, and four layer versions available if you want to pay a little less.

5. Concerts

Music is another major part of the festival, with concerts taking place every night during the festival. The concerts are held at the America Gardens Theatre in the American Adventure Pavilion. Showtimes are 5:30, 6:45, and 8 p.m. Performers this year include Wang Chung, Air Supply, Rick Springfield, John Michael Montgomery, TobyMac, Herman’s Hermits, War, and more. There is no additional cost to attend the concerts, though there are packages available for guaranteed seating.

It’s an exciting time to visit the parks, so let’s spend a few weeks taking a closer look at all the Flower and Garden Festival has to offer.
