The Keto diet craze involves eating low carb, healthy fats and a ton of protein. Vanessa is a big fan, and even an advocate at times. "Slimfast has this peanut butter cup that's delicious and feels like a cheat," she said. "I always have one of those in my bag."

Vanessa knows the importance of staying hydrated when it comes to performance. "There's nothing worse than taking the time to workout and feeling depleted, like you can't work out to your fullest capacity," she said. "For me, that happens because I'm dehydrated." To combat dehydration, she often reaches for Propel Vitamin Boost electrolyte water.

People love their avocado toast, and Vanessa claims avocados contribute to her health. "I need high fats," she explained. "If I'm not getting enough, my body holds on to calories. We've been trained to think that fats are bad, but they're so good—a source of energy and sustenance that keeps you going through the day. That's the only way I can not eat carbs." She may be onto something here. According to the Cleveland Clinic, avocados are filled with Monounsaturated fats (heart-healthy fats that can help lower LDL cholesterol), folate (crucial for cell function and tissue growth), Vitamin K-1, Potassium, Copper, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin B-6, Fiber, and they're low in sugar compared to other fruits.

Vanessa claims that intermittent fasting helps aid in her weightloss journey and maintenance. She only eats during a short six hour window a day, giving her body a chance to recharge. "In that six hour window I eat as much as I can to hold me over until I breakfast again," she explained.

Vanessa is a big fan of yoga, not only for the athletic component of strength building and toning muscle, but also to keep her centered. She calls it her therapy. "It was definitely a journey back to myself, and yoga helped," she said about getting through a tough time. Yoga can teach students breathing and meditation techniques to battle stress and anxiety.
