Justine was a skilled beach volleyball player from a young age, teaming up with Sara Hughes and making magazine covers for “Volleyball” at age 12 after winning a prestigious tournament in California. In beach volleyball, she held the record for being the youngest woman to ever receive an AAA rating. She was an indoor player who played the position of setter for her Long Beach-based club team as they won the national championship while she was a student at Los Alamitos High School in Cypress, California.
She was chosen to be one of the 18 players on the squad for the Rimini, Italy-hosted FIVB Volleyball Nations League competition in May 2021. Before the July Olympics in Tokyo, it was the only significant international event. Her contribution to Team USA’s third consecutive gold medal earned her the title of the competition’s top libero. She was also a member of the 12-person Olympic roster for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, according to US National Team head coach Karch Kiraly’s announcement on June 7, 2021. On her way to helping the USA win its first-ever gold medal, Wong-Orantes, who was competing in her first Olympics, led the competition in serve reception percentage. She was hailed as the Olympics’ top libero.
